No. If they don't have the balls to fire all their union employees and then rehire them sans-union, they deserve to go bankrupt.

Although I agree, they need to get rid of the unions, I am very torn on the bailout. I feel like if they do bail them out, its very against my principles, however, I am aware of the economic effects of not bailing them out currently. In this recession, if you will, the loss of something like 2 million jobs, may be devastating.

I first thought bailouts were fine, but, the more I think about it Idk, something bugs me about em. It seems like the government gets to decide what businesses survive and which ones don't, and that bugs me. I mean, there's other industries that would never get a bailout that are struggling. the newspaper industry is basically slowly dying, more and more layoffs and buyout packages, and they won't ever see a dime. it sucks a bunch of ppl will lose their jobs, but, idk, come up with a more efficient model. i see stories about that one place that after the 700 billion bailout goes on a spa retreat, and its like , oh, sweet, thanks for that. in closing i probably sound dumb and im a NEWB but HI MATT.

I've since removed myself from the auto companies, because the long list of restrictions on the auto money will cause the companies to collapse. I think that American's in general don't want small fuel efficient cars from American auto companies, since they haven't historically sold hardly any of them. So yay money, but they will probably fail for sure now

It seems often difficult to just the quiddity of bail-outs. As economists or professional financiers we see bail-outs as a negative thing sometimes, but as members of a local community which may be affected by the absence of a bail-out, residents obviously have a different opinion. It is difficult to compare the two.
